Hosts South Africa’s preliminary squad for the World Cup has been announced by coach Carlos Alberto Parreira prior to the tournament which starts in June.
The big omission is Nasief Morris who plays for Real Santander in La Liga, there are nineteen home based players in all on the list with the remaining ten playing across Europe. Those names include Steven Pienaar of Everton, West Ham striker Benni McCarthy and Portsmouth midfielder Aaron Mokoena.

European nation Serbia have revealed their new World Cup home shirt just over a month before they travel to South Africa to take part in the tournament.
The team surprisingly qualified with ease for the World Cup in a group that contained 1998 champions France. Even though they only picked up 1 point against the French in two meetings, other results saw the Serbians top the group fairly comfortably. They have been drawn in a fairly difficult World Cup group with Germany, Australia and Ghana the opposition.

Euro 2004 runners up Portugal have unveiled their new 2010 home shirt that they will wear at the World Cup in June at South Africa.
The team had a rocky qualification campaign which only saw them narrowly qualify for the tournament in June. After being 4th for most of the campaign, Portugal made a late burst that saw them overtake Sweden and Hungary to grab 2nd place. They were then pitted against Bosnia and Herzegovina in a two legged Play Off which they won comfortably. At the World Cup draw, they were placed …

Oceanic qualifiers New Zealand have revealed their new 2010 World Cup home shirt just over a month before the tournament is due to start.
The country’s passage to the tournament has become simpler in recent years after Australia’s defection to the Asian region. This ensures that New Zealand are the strongest team in Oceania and will most likely be in a Play Off against the 5th ranked Asian team to qualify in future. The team’s history is pretty unspectacular with three appearances at the Confederations Cup and one World Cup appearance in 1982. …

I must admit, I am not a financial expert but it seems the stories, or rumours, are gathering a little pace that Rangers could be under new ownership in the near future. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the Scottish newspapers have been covered with speculation on the clubs future from Walter Smith’s future to the tax investigation by HMRC.
This season, Walter Smith has worked wonders for Rangers and has secured a record 53rd League Championship without signing a player in two years. That run without opening the cheque book could …

The Player Profile turns it’s attentions to West Ham and England midfielder Scott Parker, after Monday’s profile on Tyrone Mears.
Scott Parker is a central midfielder currently attached to West Ham United.
Parker had started his career at Charlton Athletic and after breaking into the first team, he tallied 145 appearances for the club before leaving for Chelsea in a £10 million deal.
However, with Chelsea splashing the cash on several new players, appearances became limited for Parker as he slipped down the pecking order, mainly being used as a substitute. The following …

An impressive individual goal by Andy King sealed three points for Leicester and fired them into the playoffs. In only his third season as a professional, the 21 year old Welsh international has been a key figure in the heart of Leicester’s midfield this year. He will now be hoping to help put the crown on Leicester’s playoff bid, following his 10th goal of the season.
Despite a disappointingly empty Deepdale, the 3,000 Leicester fans who made the trip to a sunny Preston were quick to create a good atmosphere. On …

Asian qualifiers Australia have revealed their new home shirtthat they will wear initially throughout the group stages of the 2010 World Cup.
The team qualified comfortably for the 2010 tournament after finishing top of their five team qualification group. Progressing to the World Cup has become a much easier obstable for the Australian national team ever since they moved to the Asian confederation. When they finished top of the Oceanic region, they then had to face the team who finished 5th in the South American section in a two legged play off …

Coca-Cola League Two
Morecambe 1 Dagenham and Redbridge 0
Moss 86.
A superb volley from Morecambe defender Darren Moss four minutes from time saw Dagenham and Redbridge suffer yet more away day heartache at a sun-drenched Christie Park last Saturday.

Darren Moss who scored the all important late winner on Saturday.
The Essex club arrived on the Lancashire coast with only one win on their travels in 2010 and only four all season, but two home victories in a row had seen them jump into the final play off place, two points ahead of hosts Morecambe with …
