2 games, 5 goals scored, 0 goals conceded

(EDITED TO AVOID CONFUSION – This is part of a series of articles taking the mickey out of press coverage of Manchester City. It is not intended to be believed).
Legendary senile Brazilian footballer Pele, 97, today apologised and claimed that he was misquoted again after Manchester City failure Robinho threatened to sue him for the second time in a week. “Maybe there’s been a misunderstanding because I didn’t say he enjoyed clubbing seals to death at all, maybe they took him the wrong information,” Pele said in comments broadcast on …

Back in August, Stoke’s young centre-back Ryan Shawcross had a dreadful game in Stoke’s first ever Premier League game, a 3-1 away defeat to Bolton. Despite an impressive first season as a full professional, with Stoke in the Championship last season, it seemed to me that day that he wasn’t ready for top flight football yet, and I was among many suggesting that it might benefit him to go out on loan back to the Championship, to gain further experience, especially with our new signings Abdoulaye Faye and Ibrahima …

After the past few games, even the most optimistic of Manchester United fans have had that small doubt in their minds of are Man United really going to blow the title to LIverpool.
After the usual bad start to the season for the Red Devils with a goaless draw at home toNewcaste not to mention a 2-1 defeat at Anfield but on the positives a 1-1 draw away to Chelsea who started to loo like early favourites. However United turned it around again before Christmas and looked good when they travelled to …

Barcelona had nine players on International duty last weekend and apart from Sergi Busquets, who was an unused substitute for Spain, all featured for their respective countries.
Pique and  Xavi were key players in Spain’s 1-0 victory over Turkey with Pique scoring the only goal of the game in the 60th minute, scoring from close range after Xavi’s free kick from the right had ricocheted back across goal off Sergio Ramos. Thierry Henry played the full 90 minutes in France’s 1-0 victory in Lithuania.
In the third classification stage in Africa, Seydou …

On Boxing Day 2008, Aston Villa came back from an (undeserved) two goal deficit to rescue a 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal. Coupled with the amazing 2-0 win at the Emirates in November, Villa had taken 4 points off their nearest rivals for fourth place, and looked in a strong position to break up the Big Four’s dominance over the league. Villa continued this good form through the new year, racking up wins at Blackburn, Sunderland and Portsmouth. With Arsenal seemingly struggling, with a run of 0-0 draws, all …

As predictable, Palmeiras lost the derby against São Paulo last Saturday:
You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video
Predictable because, as I said in previews post, Palmeiras always have a hard time playing against São Paulo in the Morumbi, and the game didn’t worth much to Palmeiras as to São Paulo.
And São Paulo showed the importance of the game by scoring in the 3rd minute, with Washington. The play started with a mistake of Palmeiras defender Marcão, which gave São Paulo the possession and they scored.
After the …

Bristol City players Adriano Basso and Marvin Elliott have been listed among the top 50 players in the Football League.
The two were honoured at last night’s Football League Awards, with the Top 50 also featuring in the May edition of Four Four Two magazine.
The Brazilian shot-stopper was ranked as the 39th best player, with Four Four Two magazine claiming that he is ‘widely regarded as one of the best keepers outside the top flight’.
His teammate, Elliott, has been described as a ‘powerhouse midfielder’ and came in at number 31. Elliott’s …

Why did he not get picked?

I am mystified as to why versatile Argentine Pablo Zabaleta, one of the Blues’ top performers this season, has not had a tap on the shoulder from the Hand of God.
He has simply been ingored after what could be described as some of the best football he has ever played. Zabaleta has played in a multitude of positions to reflect the multitude of different skills he possesses. He is a real asset to the club and I can say that I have never seen a player …

As the month of March draws to a conclusion, what better time than now to vote for your player of the month. The past month has been a mixed affair for the Blues, with impressive victories against Aston Villa and AaB Aalborg interspersed with disappointing defeats away to West Ham and Chelsea. The record for this month stands at played six, won three and lost three, and City will need to improve on this if they are to fulfill their dreams if reaching seventh place. Below, I will list some …
