It is likely that Stoke target Rudolph Austin will tomorrow find out if he is to be given the work permit neccessary for him to complate his move to the Potters. A fee of around £1 million was agreed with his club Portmore United in Jamaica and personal terms were agreed with Austin earlier this month and a work permit being granted will allow the move to be finalised.
The 22 year old Jamaican midfielder, who can also be used in a centre back or full back role has played …

Stoke have completed the signing of 32 year old Danish international ‘keeper Thomas sorensen on a free transfer following his release from Aston Villa. The commanding 6’5″ stopper joins on a three year contract. Sorensen has been capped 72 times by his country.
Tony Pulis is clearly delighted with the signing, saying, “Thomas is a fantastic acquisition, he has played almost 400 games in the Premier League and been number one for Denmark for a very long time.” Pulis, clearly a fan, added, “The fact that we have got Thomas …

Stoke youngsters Ryan Shotton (pictured) and Richie De Laet, both 19 have turned down the chance to move on loan to League Two side AFC Bournemouth after a trial period at the club. Both players opted against a move to the South coast to remain at Stoke for the time being. It has been speculated that the players are looking for more glamourous loan moves, or that the club have ordered them to stay, due to lack of depth in the squad in defensive areas.

Mamady Sidibe’s brace fired Stoke to a third win of pre-season on Tuesday night at Notts County’s Meadow Lane. Despite the Potters being somewhat on the back foot for the opening spell, the Malian target man gave Stoke the lead on fifteen minutes, with a powerful header from six yards from Glenn Whelan’s cross.
Sidibe doubled the advantage for Pulis’ men just six minutes later driving home after a trademark Delap long throw caused havoc in the Magpies’ box, with ‘keeper Kevin Pilkington fumbling the ball straight to the striker’s …

There is no doubt that a manager knowing his squad inside-out can only be a good thing, but few gaffers in the Football League can claim to have such a close relationship with his players than Kevin Blackwell.
Today’s signing of Matthew Spring, who played under the Sheffield United manager at both Leeds United and Luton Town, means that the former Watford man will see a familiar face when he reports to Shirecliffe in preperation for the season’s opener, at Birmingham City on August 9.
Blackwell, of course, will have indepth knowledge …

Of the trio, Wales international Cotterill is the signing that will most appease United’s supporters, who have …

Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov has targeted being “involved in the business of the team less and less often”. Does this mean he is still involved in team affairs? Maybe this is what manager Csaba Laszlo meant by “together” during his appointment.
“Csaba has plenty of experience working in the football world that allows him to work with me and convince me with a lot of positions where the manager wants to do it his way.
He can convince me of that and I can take that on board.”
This seems slightly worrying that …

Hearts striker Christian Nade has been been ordered to lose weight before he can be considered for the first team again. The former Sheffield United player arrived at Tynecastle at the end of last years’ summer transfer window and has rarely played a full match since.

On arrival we were informed that Nade was short of matches and would take time to gain full fitness. He found himself in the starting line-up on many occasions but was never able to go the full ninety. As the season progressed there appeared little …

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has slammed a report suggesting he is considering a move to Real Madrid.
Fabregas was a key member of the Spain squad that won Euro 2008 and according to a report last weekend in Spanish sports newspaper Marca he was quoted as saying he might move to the Bernabeu, especially if Arsenal did not win a trophy this season.
But in a statement the 21-year-old told Arsenal’s official website on Monday: “I have not spoken to any media so it’s frustrating to read quotes that I have supposedly …
